Paradox Box (not available)
Inside The Paradox Box, you can find the Anti-Social Media Sweater, The Sad-Boy TV, the Sad-Boy TV hologram sticker and a print. Each item was designed and sculpted by hand.
Every month for 2020, I’ve decided to choose random words to create content around. Using a random word generator, the word for January was Paradox. Using the definition, I went with the idea that a lot of social habits tend to be paradoxes in themselves.
Using a random word and giving myself a month to create everything, was just the right amount of pressure needed for my creativity to shine. Creating daily was not enough time to process and trying to work on my own time was too much time.
The Sculpt: Sad-Boy TV
Hand sculpted using a 2 part epoxy clay. Starting this piece, i used a wire and aluminum foil base and started adding the clay right on top. The process was pretty straight forward.
What i like about epoxy clay is that there is no need to bake, like polymer clays and is air dry. So after a few hours, i was able to go in and add some details.
The Design: Anti-Social Media Sweater
The design represents anarchy from the media. We as human beings have a strange relationship with technology and this shirt is supposed to be my interpretation of my “revolt against the machine”.
The Broken TV - Instagram FilteR
After a bit of editing, this was the final version. The idea was to create a look that was familiar but also original in design.
The filter was created in Facebook Spark AR and wasn’t extremely complicated. Most of the look is created using custom assets made in after effects.
The sound was imported from a personal sound library which needed to be converted to m4a to work within Spark and a simple bit-crush to process audio from the microphone.
I also used a custom patch from Josh beckwith which allowed me to use custom LUTs. Which would have been a hassle otherwise. The LUT I used was from DIGILOG.COLOR by Kidz ‘R Evil
Also in the box are holographic stickers of the Sad-Boy TV in his Watermelon colorway.
