Forum Forever: "Showtime" for Adidas

This past June (2022), we were offered the opportunity to put together a virtual experience for Adidas! The experience would live in an event called Forum Forever. An immersive exhibit celebrating one of their hallmark sneakers, the Forum. It took place at Lume studios in lower Manhattan.

For the experience, we had control over projection mapping on the top floor and about 15 screens in the basement.

Breakdown

Since we only had 2 weeks or so to put this together, there was a lot of work to get done. It was broken down into two parts, I handled the interactive experience and our animator Key, put together the content that was projected in the upstairs room and floor.

Projection Mapping

We were given dimensions and a PSD for the art, provided by Belchez, for the walls, and designed a basketball court for the floor.

This turned out to be the most straight forward part of the project since Lume handled the actual projection mapping themselves.

The “Showtime” Experience

The interactive experience was built in unreal engine 4 and used a Microsoft Kinect v2 for the motion tracking.

The characters were created using Reallusions character creator and customized clothes assets purchased from Daz3D

All together, the experience turned out great!
